A new network for a national charity. Relocated from Blackfriars to serve 20+ staff in an office at Paddington Station. The system was built around an HP Proliant G5 running Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2. We had a second server - an IBM eServer to host Remote Desktop applications. Ethernet network was built using a Cisco PoE switch. Desktop computers are a mix of Dell Optiplex & HP Business PCs installed with Windows XP Profesional & Office 2003. All voice traffic is carried across a hosted VoIP system using Cisco 7960G handsets powered by the PoE switch. Remote access services are provided using an ADSL connection with ISDN backup. Draytek Vigor 2800i router performs this function. ALIT solutions provides ongoing support making use of remote access technology and personal visits to deal with issues.
A project to perform a technology refresh for a food distribution company based in Middlesex. The business had a creaking Small Business Server install. This was upgraded from a Proliant ML350 to a Proliant DL380. They also had a Blackberry Enterprise Server installation and a Terminal Server. These roles were migrated to a virtual setup making use of VMware ESXi hosted on a Windows 2003 install. Thier old legacy Nortel BCM1000 was ripped out and a hosted VoIP platform install using Cisco 7960 handsets.
A collection of temporary networks built as part of the Glastonbury Festival each year since 2007. Making use of multiple ADSL lines from two providers. The networks were providing Internet access for press staff, technical engineering crew & the paying public. Running several networks in a field using temp power presents a number of challenges all of which were overcome. We have staff with many years experience in the entertainment industry having the skills to install & maintain this kind of solution. Two IT support staff looked after support over the festival period.
A VoIP solution for a small office base in central London. When they relocated it was time to consider the telephone system options. Conventional PABX was ok but the real high end facilities were not an option. Therefore ALIT solutions installed a hosted VoIP solutions. Our clients office has full function VoIP business grade handsets. These are connected to the host via an ADSL Max service. To rpovide load balance & backup this was teamed with a second ADSL service. Now they can have access to thier voice platform wherever they may be - at home, in the office, abroad... All for less than a regular PABX.
A specific wide area network to provide in-store audio feeds for a well known high street department store. This PWAN system consists of 130+ end points connected using Cisco MPLS aware routers routing to a datacentre in London. Here two servers provide content to the stores using a bespoke application. The network is multicast enabled allowing specific monitoring of the systems and network. Alerts can be raised in the event of a problem and an engineer dragged out of bed to attend site if required. ALIT solutions Ltd provided the PC hardware used in this setup. We also designed the PWAN and project managed the network delivery.
